Forests of Maine Teachers' Tour: Katahdin Region (July 27th - 30th)
- Maine Tree
- Teachers
- Other Educators
The Forests of Maine Teachers’ Tours are an opportunity for Maine educators to gain and disseminate holistic knowledge about our forests – from ecology and tree growth to harvest and processing of wood products, with consideration of impacts on local communities. Through a Project Learning Tree workshop, site visits to local harvests and forest products companies, and interactions with forest professionals, teachers will be prepared to bring this knowledge back to their classrooms to inspire the next generation. As a condition of participating in the Teachers’ Tour, Maine TREE asks teachers to follow up within six months of the workshop with a forest-based learning deliverable (e.g. a Teachers’ Tour-inspired lesson plan; a short video of students using PLT).
